  Welcome to the Division of Language and Literature of Gulf Coast Community College. These Web   pages   provide an overview of the academic programs of study offered by the   division, an outline of Web-based resources created and gathered for department   courses, a Web  page for each faculty member, and a survey of departmental highlights.

Mission Statement:  The Division of Language and Literature provides training in written and oral communication in English and foreign languages in order to engage students as critical thinkers, effective communications, and good citizens.

  
 ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

The Language and Literature Division offers courses in developmental English and reading, oral communication, composition and literature, creative writing, foreign language, journalism, and college-level reading. These courses fit into a variety of university parallel programs for students who expect to transfer to a four-year college or university after the completion of their work at Gulf Coast Community College. If you are a student who has not yet declared a major (General Transfer) or who has declared a major in communications, English, foreign language, or journalism, you will be advised by professors from the Language Arts Division.
